Magnuson Muse & News – September Newsletter

We’re starting a new tradition at MCS!

It’s called See You At The Pole.  Students in public and private schools across the country gather around their flagpole to pray!   For the last 25 years, the 4th Wednesday in September has been set aside for See You at the Pole which has been about one simple act—prayer.  Next Wednesday, Sept. 27th at 10:00 a.m. (after chapel), MCS students will go outside to the flagpole, and each class will share a prayer as well as sing and say the Pledge of Allegiance.  This is a student-led event, but parents are welcome!  The theme verse is Hebrews 12:2 – Fix your eyes on Jesus!  What a privilege it is to pray in school!

NO SCHOOL FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 29TH!

Picture Day

Picture Day is Monday, October 2nd.  Order forms went home last Friday, and we’ll send a reminder.  We are looking for a couple parent helpers that morning from 9:00-12:00.  Lifetouch said they’d give you the Deluxe Package A for your assistance.  What a deal!  Click HERE to order online!

Attendance Matters

This year we will be keeping close track of attendance, including tardies.  Students who get into their classroom late will need a pass from Mrs. Lemke.  Every instructional minute counts, so we begin teaching promptly at 9:15 a.m.  Thank you for helping your child get to school on time every day!

Gala

I got some information about this year’s gala, and I’M PUMPED!  I heard some fun ideas and am excited about the leadership.  First of all, please put the gala date on your calendar – Saturday, April 21st – and start inviting friends and family now!  We have some committee chairs already in place, but we are looking to secure the entire steering committee by mid October.  Here are the areas still in need of leadership:  auction, marketing, games, general volunteer coordinator, and student volunteer coordinator.  Many more details about the gala will be coming throughout the school year, but right now we need some parents or MCS supporters to step up and get involved in the planning process.  The gala is our big fundraiser for MCS.  It’s super important!!  Think about how God has gifted you and please prayerfully consider joining the gala team by chairing one of these committees.  I’m sure you have questions about what chairing a committee entails.  Please contact our gala coordinator Alicia Baraga or our two parent co-chairs, Jenny Boxrud and Kelli Donohoo for details.  You can also attend an informational meeting tomorrow night (Thursday the 21st) at 7:00 p.m. in the MCS library.  As I said at Meet the Teacher Night, I’ve worked with hundreds of volunteers over the years, and I never beg people to help because I want you to serve cheerfully in an area that you’re passionate about!  I know God will bless your efforts, and you will feel fulfilled because of the way you contribute.  It’s going to be an awesome event!

My highlight of the week is chapel!  I truly love giving thanks and praise to God through prayer, song, scripture, and offering.  Worshiping with the entire school is amazing!  Feel free to pause in the middle of your busy week to join us each Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.  Our spirits are filled with joy when we gather together!
