Magnuson Muse & News – June Newsletter

A New Beginning!

Hello Magnuson families! I am so excited to be here! Yes, I changed the name of the MCS monthly newsletter because I like to be creative. To muse means to consider something thoughtfully. As a noun, the word means a source that inspires an artist. Magnuson Christian School inspires me, and so I will be sharing my thoughts with you as well as keep you updated on important events and information you need to know. I hope you are having an awesome summer! Feel free to stop by anytime because it’s quiet here, and I’m working all summer to prepare for a great 2017-18 school year!

Cheri Buelow, School Director

2017-18 All School Bible Verse

Colossians 2:6-7 (left)
Each year we choose a Bible verse for the entire school year. For our 2017-18 school year, our scripture verse comes from Colossians 2:6-7. This verse extends from last year’s verse which was about becoming a new creation. The old has gone, and the new is here. Now that we are in Christ, we will continue to live our lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him!

Summer Volunteers Needed

We could really use some volunteers with the gift of organization! If you’re one of those people who enjoys transforming storage areas into user-friendly, efficient, and attractive workspaces, we’ve got a project or two for you! Please contact Cheri at

New Kindergarten Teacher

It came as quite a shock to all of us to learn that Renee Meyer wouldn’t be returning this fall as the kindergarten teacher due to her husband’s job and a relocation to the Chicago area. We are praying for them during this transition. I feel God has answered our prayers by bringing MCS a kindergarten teacher who will bring laughter, learning, and love for the Lord into the classroom. Jill Dougherty has 20 years of teaching experience along with an amazing amount of energy, and because I know her personally, I can tell you that she is going to be a huge blessing to Magnuson Christian School!

New Administrative Assistant

I feel blessed to be working alongside Tiffany Lemke, the new administrative assistant at MCS. Tiffany will be greeting families at her new welcome desk located at the entrance to the school hallway. Tiffany is mom to first grader Jaiden as well as toddler, Isaac. She has a psychology degree from Bethel University and ten years of ministry experience. I am already blessed beyond measure by her giftedness.

New Spanish Teacher

Sol Martinez-Wagner will be joining the MCS staff as our new Spanish teacher! She is a member of Community of Grace and will share her language with all our K-8 students twice a week. Sol has a beautiful faith, and her passion for children is evident.

New Food Service

Carrie Johnson will be taking over our food service this year. She has a daughter at Magnuson and is very excited to join the staff at MCS. Welcome, Carrie!
