February 2022 Parent Newsletter

It was extra-festive at Magnuson in the days leading up to Christmas break. Check out a photo of Mrs. Fehrmann (kindergarten teacher) and Ms. Coleman (second grade teacher), in their unplanned, matching holiday attire!

Some of the fifth and sixth grade moms made mini gingerbread houses for the students to decorate at a surprise Christmas party their teachers planned. A LOT of icing was needed for these jolly little structures.

As you can see, students had a fantastic time working together to create gingerbread house villages.

Magnuson Q & A

In honor of Valentine’s Day, we asked several MCS students and teachers what they LOVE about our school. Here are their responses:

Joselyn, 6th grade: “The teachers care about their students. They will help when needed, and know each of them personally.”

Ivan, 3rd grade: “The thing I love most about Magnuson are the kids. They’re nice and they include me. I also like science class because we get to do lots of experiments.”

Mrs. Frick, Middle School Teacher: “What I love about MCS is the feeling of being part of a family. The love and support from staff, students and parents are what keep me going during the hard times.”

John, 6th grade: “I like that all the people there are nice, that it’s a Christian school, and it’s not too big.”

Makynlea, 4th grade: “I love that there are nice teachers, praying every day and no bullying.”

Mayson, 3rd grade: “There are great teachers, nice friends, fun activities and smaller classes!”

Ms. Lee, Music, Choir and Band Teacher: “I love many things about MCS, but one that comes to mind in particular is the work ethic of the 5th/6th Grade Choir. They embrace the crazy singer spirit and are always ready to put in the work on challenging music. I am so proud of all the things they've accomplished this year!”

Kokoro Gym Fun

In January, MCS students started to enjoy two trips each week to Kokoro Gym for P.E. Looking at the photos, it’s obvious that students from kindergarten through sixth grade are loving it! Students in all grades enjoy volleyball, indoor soccer, track, tag, scooters and more during their time there.

Save the Date

The Magnuson Christian School Gala will be here before we know it, and Mrs. Lemke is hard at work planning the big event. Please reach out to her if you can volunteer for the Gala, or if you have any great ideas for the silent or live auction.

Mark your calendar to join us on Saturday, April 23rd at Oak Glen in Stillwater!

Art Updates

Our talented art teacher, Mrs. Mesenbourg, shared what MCS have been busy creating during art class: “Students used graphic materials to add detail and create an original work of art. The main subject of each piece was guided drawing, but all other animals and background details were created by students using the five basic elements of shape (straight line, curved line, angle line, dot, and circle) and looking carefully at graphic materials.

All students were asked to color in all the white before finishing. 3rd-6th grades were asked to create line quality by thickening and broadening a few lines. They were also required to use shading or textured color (pattern) somewhere in their picture using straight or curved-line stripes, grid, checkerboard, polka dots, or cross-hatching.”

Here are some creative examples!

February Newsletter Verse:

Last year’s annual MCS verse seems especially fitting for February.

A new command I give you: love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

John 13:34

Blessings to you in the new year!
